In addition to these mammals, reptiles are in abundance here. Two different varieties of iguana claim the jungle as home, including the green iguana and the spiny-tailed iguana. Do be careful of the poisonous bite of the Mexican beaded Lizard which is identified by its lumpy black hide, and white and yellow markings.
The combination of tropical weather, forest habitat, and virginal coastal habitat produce homes for an almost innumerable number of bird species in the region. The vivid plumage and songs of these birds keep the most avid of bird watchers coming back for more. Bird enthusiasts will see a wide range of species such as Yellow-winged Caciques, Black-Throated Magpie Jays, Amazon Parrots, Tropical Kingbirds, and Blue-Footed Boobies. In total, there are well over four hundred disparate species of birds that call the area home throughout the year.
